The Construction of Lionheart

Lionheart is the first of a new breed of J-Class yachts under Construction in Holland and will carry the sailnumber J H1.

Lionheart will be built in Alustar. The hull is under construction at Freddie Bloemsma’s specialized hull building yard in Makkum (www.bloemsma-aluminiumbouw.nl) and the yacht will be finished by Claasen Jachtbouw in Zaandam (www.claasenjachtbouw.nl).

The original design has been extensively optimised by Hoek Design in Edam.
(www.hoekdesign.com). Ballast ratio’s, mast position, sail area and stability were reviewed under the new J-class handicap rules. Double deckhouses and cockpits have created a J that is both fit for racing and cruising.

Lionheart will be built to ABS and MCA with charter in mind. The interior will be lightweight classic panelling. An aft owner’s cabin with ensuite private deckhouse and cockpit, three aft guest cabins, four crew cabins. crew mess and gallery are integrated below decks
